Via Btolat

Media reports have revealed that FC Barcelona has made a new decision regarding signing Argentine striker Julián Álvarez, a first-team player at Atlético Madrid.

Julián Álvarez was the biggest headache for everyone following the 2026/2027 transfer market due to the ongoing conflict between Barcelona and Atlético Madrid over him.

Barcelona wants to sign him to compensate for the departures of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres, who recently left for Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Atlético Madrid's stubborn stance prevented the deal from being completed, as they officially confirmed that Álvarez would not be sold to any Spanish club.

The summer transfer window closed without Álvarez leaving Los Rojiblancos, while Barcelona successfully signed Gabriel Jesus.

According to the Catalan newspaper "Sport," FC Barcelona will attempt once again to sign Álvarez during the upcoming winter transfer window, at which point circumstances might change completely compared to what happened in the summer market.

It reported that, according to Marca Radio, Atlético Madrid's management will demand that Julián Álvarez change his agent and apologize to the fans due to their disappointment and intense anger after he announced his desire to leave for Barcelona.

The Catalan newspaper emphasized that signing Gabriel Jesus will not prevent Barcelona from signing Julián Álvarez, neither in terms of squad numbers nor financial issues that could hinder registering the player with La Liga.
