The President of the European Football Union, Alexander Ceferin, officially announced that he will not run against Gianni Infantino in the International Football Federation (FIFA) elections.
Ceferin said in a press statement: "I am not interested in the FIFA presidency, and I have all the love and respect for my work at UEFA."
Regarding the UEFA elections, he said: "I don't know who my opponent will be in the election."
Ceferin is one of the fiercest opponents of Gianni Infantino, as he is leading the front to oust the FIFA president in the upcoming elections.
Infantino is facing a wave of anger due to his proposal to sell the 2030 World Cup to investors with the aim of increasing profits.
Many European football associations have announced that they are withdrawing their support for Infantino in the upcoming FIFA elections.
According to the British newspaper "The Guardian," up to 15 associations in Africa are ready to withdraw their support for Infantino when he seeks re-election as president of the international governing body next year.
The FIFA elections will be held at the next Congress meeting in March 2027.
The 2030 World Cup will be held under a joint bid by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.
