The Portugal national team continued to secure victories without Cristiano Ronaldo, defeating Norway by two goals to one.
The match was part of the fourth round of the group stage in the UEFA Nations League.
Cancelo told the Portuguese newspaper "A Bola": "Cristiano Ronaldo is our captain and a symbol of the national team, and he is the greatest in Portugal's history. Certainly, things will end in the best possible way."
He added, "Achieving these four wins, we all worked wonderfully, including Ronaldo. It is now time to enjoy them. No one knows what will happen except Pedro Proença, the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, Jorge Jesus, and Ronaldo only."
He concluded, "Naturally, we spoke with Ronaldo this week, but I will not disclose what was said between us."
For the second consecutive match, the Portugal national team managed to win after Ronaldo left the team camp following disagreements with coach Jorge Jesus.
Portugal has secured qualification for the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Portugal played with 10 players from the 86th minute after Francisco Conceição was sent off.
With this victory, the Portugal national team's points total rose to 12, achieving a perfect record at the top, while Norway's points remained at three in third place.
