Pedro Proença, the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, clarified that what happened between Cristiano Ronaldo and national team coach Jorge Jesus was a misunderstanding.

Proença said via the Portuguese newspaper "A Bola": "The matter between Jorge Jesus and Cristiano Ronaldo is merely a misunderstanding, and we will resolve it internally. I will not provide explanations about what happened. These conversations are very natural and occur between coaches and players. It is purely a technical matter, and I do not interfere in such issues. We are talking about the best player in history, who has given more than two decades to Portugal. Ronaldo is an icon of Portuguese football."

He added, "Ronaldo is an integral part of our national team; he is our flag. He was the captain in the first of these four matches. Team coach Jorge Jesus stated that he relies on Cristiano if he is in good physical condition, and this applies to all players."

He continued, "Ronaldo is a Portuguese brand. He is an exceptional player by every measure who could have ended his international career after the World Cup, but he did not want to due to his immense love for the national team. I am a witness to the excellent relationship that connects Ronaldo with the Portuguese people and our national team."

He went on, "Fortunately, there is a very strong relationship between Ronaldo and Jesus, and I am a witness to that. Because if it were not so, let us be very clear, Ronaldo might have already left the national team. But he did not do so thanks to this relationship and mutual respect."

He concluded, "Everything that will happen in the coming days will be moments of calm and discussion. What we want is for all of us to be together again in November to support our national team."

Jorge Jesus, the coach of Portugal, opened the door for Cristiano Ronaldo to return to representing the national team once again.

The Portuguese national team achieved victory against Norway 2-1 in the fourth round of Group Four matches in the UEFA Nations League.

Jesus said at the press conference regarding Ronaldo's return: "For me, everything is open. Cristiano must decide what he wants to do in his life."

He continued, "It was just a misunderstanding, and it is easy for me to resolve this situation."

The Portuguese national team officially secured its qualification for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Nations League.

For the second match in a row, the Portuguese national team managed to win after Ronaldo left the team camp following disagreements with team coach Jorge Jesus.

Portugal played with 10 players from the 86th minute after Francisco Conceição was sent off.
