Benin goalkeeper Marcel Dandjinou confirmed that he would not treat the match against Argentina and Lionel Messi's final home game as a ceremonial occasion, stressing that he would try to save any shot taken by the Argentine star, even if it were a last-minute penalty.

Dandjinou told Marca newspaper: "This match is unlike any other; it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity because it is Messi's last game. But we do not forget that we represent Benin, and we are not here as tourists, but to play and compete."

The South African Kruger United goalkeeper added: "For me, Messi is one of the kings of football. We grew up watching him and enjoying what he offers. Playing against him on the same pitch is unbelievable; he is a true legend."

Regarding the possibility of allowing Messi to score in his farewell match, Dandjinou responded firmly: "No, absolutely not. I am a goalkeeper and my job is to stop shots. Even if it is the last minute and there is a penalty for Messi to take, I will try to save it. We are here to celebrate him, but no one has asked us to gift him a goal."

The Beninese goalkeeper explained that all players from his national team want to get Messi's shirt, joking that it would be difficult if only one player were allowed to ask for the Argentine star's jersey.

Dandjinou expressed his excitement about playing at the Monumental stadium, confirming that participating in Messi's final farewell will remain an unforgettable memory in his career. He also praised Unai Simón, the Spanish national team goalkeeper, describing him as "one of the best goalkeepers in the world."
