Press reports revealed that the German club Bayern Munich is targeting a deal with the French international Jules Koundé, defender of the Spanish team Barcelona, during the current summer mercato.
Koundé was a key player in the French national team squad led by Didier Deschamps in the 2026 World Cup, and participated in all matches so far.
The French international was able to present a distinguished performance in the last three matches for the Roosters, as he contributed to keeping his team's net clean against Sweden, Paraguay, and Morocco.
Bayern Munich targets Koundé
German journalist Christian Falk revealed through the "CFBayern Insider" website that Koundé was on Bayern Munich's shortlist throughout the past years.
Bayern Munich admires Koundé's abilities, in the right-back and center-back positions, but needs to get rid of some players first during the current summer mercato.
Falk said during his statements to the German website: "True, Jules Koundé has been on Bayern Munich's list for years. They admire the player and follow his development".
He added: "But there is no opportunity to buy the French player currently, as they must sell some players, and as I mentioned previously, the defender loaned to Galatasaray, Sacha Boey, is still on the list".
Bayern has in the right-back position both Konrad Laimer and Josip Stanišić, so if Bayern Munich manages to sell Boey, perhaps the Bavarian can contract with Koundé.
The transfer market expert continued: "Jérayro Ried player of the Dutch Feyenoord, is on Bayern Munich's list of interests for the right-back position, in case the deal with Koundé fails".
It is mentioned that the German champion had already contracted this with Nathaniel Brown and Ismail Sabari, but any other contracts for the team will depend first on selling some players.
But most likely, Sacha Boey, Hiroki Ito, Kim Min-jae, and João Palhinha may leave this summer, if Bayern receives suitable offers for them.
