The draw for the AfroBasket Under-18 Championship, hosted by Ivory Coast from August 5 to 16, has been conducted.
The tournament features the participation of 12 national teams, including the Egyptian team, which qualified for the finals after finishing as runner-up in the fifth zone qualifiers tournament, which was recently held at the Cairo International Stadium hall.
The draw resulted in the Egyptian junior team being placed in the first group alongside the teams of Ivory Coast "the host country", Chad, and Nigeria.
The Egyptian team's roster included 12 players: Rami Magdy, Bejad Mustafa, Mustafa Tamer, Hussein Youssef, Omar Ihab, Seif Hammad, Mohamed Khaled, Bilal Suhaib, Zain El-Din Ahmed, Asaad Qidar, Ahmed Osama, and Mohamed Ghandour.
The tournament competitions are held in a single round-robin system among the three groups, with the best eight teams in the group stage qualifying for the quarterfinals.
Where the teams that top each group will be ranked from first to third place, and the teams that finish second in each group from fourth to sixth place.
And the best two teams that finish third from seventh to eighth place, based on the number of wins and goal difference.
Accordingly, the round of eight matches in the AfroBasket Under-18 Championship will be as follows:
First place × Eighth place
Second place × Seventh place
Third place × Sixth place
Fourth place × Fifth place
