Talk continues about the transfer deal of Manchester City star Rodri to Barcelona in the current summer transfer window, amid the two clubs not reaching an agreement yet.
Many press reports indicate that Rodri is closer to joining Barcelona, but his English club does not want to easily give up his services.
Rodri is linked to a contract with Manchester City until summer 2027, so this mercato is the English club's last chance to make a financial profit from selling him amid the two parties not agreeing on renewal.
On the other side, Barcelona is trying to exploit the last year of Rodri's contract with Man City, alongside his desire to leave the Citizens to seal the deal.
In this regard, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the transfer expert, mentioned that Barcelona has made a new verbal offer to Manchester City to sign Rodri worth 60 million euros with add-ons.
He added on his official "X" page that Manchester City insists on a sum of 80 million euros to sell Rodri.
Romano pointed out that Barcelona remains confident of completing the deal, and the optimal solution may be reaching an agreement between the two offers, with add-ons being a key element.
It is worth noting that Rodri, captain of the Spain national team, was one of the standout players in Spain's victory in the 2026 World Cup, and he also won the award for best player in the World Cup.
