Fermin Lopez, the Spanish Barcelona player, confirmed the increasing chances of him joining the match against Al-Ahly in the Joan Gamper Cup tournament, scheduled to be held before the start of the new season.
Barcelona is scheduled to play its first match at its stadium, Camp Nou, in the new season, against Al-Ahly Club, on August 19 next, for the friendly Joan Gamper Cup tournament.
Fermin Lopez said in statements reported by the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo: "If everything goes well, I will get minutes in the Gamper Cup."
The Spanish player added: "Will I return stronger and better? Yes, that is the goal.. to return from this injury with strong motivation and I think I am completely ready."
He continued: "I showed last season my value and what I can offer to the team, and this season I must continue to develop and play at the same level as last season."
Regarding his non-participation in the 2026 World Cup due to the injury he suffered, he said: "At first I could not watch the national team's matches in the World Cup."
He added: "It was difficult because I wanted to be there, as I was at the peak of my level, and it also meant a lot to me, as this is my country, and these are my teammates, especially the Barcelona players."
Regarding the competitions of the upcoming season, he said: "Everyone wants to win the Champions League, and we were very close to that during the past two seasons.. I think this year could be our year, and we are preparing to win all the titles, and certainly the Champions League."
