Barcelona closes the door on Ferran Torres departure

Via Yallakora

Spanish newspaper AS revealed that Barcelona club does not intend to dispense with its Spanish striker Ferran Torres during the current summer transfer window, despite reports linking him to a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

According to the report, Barcelona is committed to keeping Torres and plans to hold a meeting with him next September to extend his contract under nearly the same financial terms, given the board's conviction of his importance within coach Hansi Flick's project.

The newspaper added that the Catalan club decided to postpone renewal negotiations until after the transfer window closes, so it can finish registering new signings, especially since extending the player's contract would oblige Barcelona to pay €7 million to Manchester City, according to a clause agreed upon in his transfer deal.

AS confirmed that Ferran Torres remains a key pillar in Flick's plans, thanks to his ability to play in all attacking positions, along with his tactical discipline, after ending last season on a high note and contributing to Spain's national team winning the World Cup title.

Despite reports of Paris Saint-Germain's interest in signing him at the request of coach Luis Enrique, the newspaper clarified that Barcelona has not received any official offer so far, nor has the player or his representatives informed the club of their desire to leave.

AS concluded its report by confirming that Barcelona does not place Ferran Torres on the list of players to depart, though it may consider any substantial financial offer, while the board's first option remains to renew the player's contract and keep him with the team.
