The Athletic network revealed the establishment of traffic barriers around the hotel where the English national team is scheduled to stay before facing Mexico.
The English team will meet Mexico on Monday, July 6, at three in the morning, in the round of 16 of the World Cup.
The Athletic stated: "Traffic barriers are being set up around the hotel where the England team will stay in Mexico as a precautionary measure to prevent any disturbances or harassment before the match."
The network explained that the enhancement of security measures comes after what the Ecuadorian team faced before their round of 32 match against Mexico.
The Ecuadorian team's delegation was harassed throughout the evening due to fans launching fireworks, chanting, and making noise with car engines outside the hotel.
The Athletic reported, citing sources in the International Football Association "FIFA", that imposing traffic barriers around team hotels is based on an assessment of each case individually.
The England team is scheduled to travel to the capital, Mexico City, two days before the match date.
The tournament regulations stipulate that national teams must be present in the city hosting the match at least one day before the match date, with the option to travel two days prior if they wish.
So far, the English team has been content with arriving just one day before their matches.
The match on Sunday will be held in a high-altitude area, as the "Azteca" stadium is located at an altitude of 2,240 meters (7,350 feet) above sea level.
England coach Thomas Tuchel said in statements about facing Mexico: "We will go one night earlier than usual."
The England coach added, "The recommendation is either to travel ten days early, which is too long for us, or to travel at the last minute, which is not allowed. We have spoken with teams that follow this approach, and they reported that they travel very late on the day of the match if they cannot get acclimatization time, or they try to find a middle ground between the two options; however, this situation will still pose a challenge."
The England team surpassed the Democratic Republic of the Congo with two goals to one in the round of 32, while Mexico eliminated Ecuador with two clean goals to qualify to face the Three Lions in the round of 16.
