Aston Villa succeeded in concluding one of the most prominent deals in the summer transfer market, after reaching a final agreement with German Freiburg to sign the Swiss Johann Manzambi, in a deal worth a total of about 70 million euros, surpassing Newcastle in the race to sign the player.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Aston Villa has finalized all agreements with Freiburg, and obtained the approval of Manzambi, who informed his representatives of his desire to move to the English club, after Newcastle did not grant final approval to join it.

The network added that the player agreed to sign a long-term contract with Aston Villa, while he is expected to undergo a medical examination in the coming days, in preparation for the official announcement of the deal.

Manzambi's transfer comes after the remarkable levels he presented with the Swiss national team in the 2026 World Cup, where he contributed directly to his team's campaign by scoring three goals and assisting two.

The Freiburg player is considered one of the main pillars in coach Murad Yakin's lineup, and is viewed as one of the most prominent talents in the Swiss national team, which exited the World Cup competitions in the quarter-finals after losing to Argentina.
