FIFA had issued sanctions following the World Cup final, including a 10-match suspension for Paredes.

Argentine Continental Radio journalist Julio Pavoni revealed that the Argentine Football Association has appealed to FIFA to reduce the sanctions imposed on Leandro Paredes, Molina, and Ayala.

The Argentine Association is seeking to reduce Paredes' suspension from 10 matches to just 3.

The Argentina national team awaits the decision of FIFA's Appeals Committee; if the request is accepted, Paredes will be called up for the November break after serving three matches during the October break.

The sanctions were as follows:

A 10-match suspension for Argentina national team player Leandro Paredes.

The suspensions also included Nahuel Molina, Argentina's full-back, for 7 matches, assistant coach Roberto Ayala for 3 matches, and Thiago Almada, an Argentina player, for one match.

FIFA also decided to fine the Argentine Football Association $321,000 due to various violations across several matches in the tournament.

FIFA required the Argentina national team to play their next two home matches with a crowd capacity of 50% for the first match, while the second was suspended, to be enforced if FIFA receives new complaints regarding Argentine fans.

Spain's goal was scored by Ferran Torres in the 106th minute.

Spain won their second World Cup title in La Roja's history, having previously achieved it in 2010 against the Netherlands.

Argentina failed to retain the championship they won in 2022 and settled for silver.
