Moroccan press reports revealed the features of the clubs that will not participate in the preliminary round of the African Confederation Cup in its new edition.

The CAF Club Competitions Committee determined the participation of 56 clubs in the upcoming edition of the Confederation Cup, after adopting Thursday, August 6, as the official date for drawing the preliminary rounds of the African Champions League and Confederation Cup competitions.
A Moroccan website, citing an official source within the CAF Club Competitions Committee, stated that only eight clubs will be exempted from the first preliminary round of the African Confederation Cup competition.
The Moroccan website added, citing an official source, that the exemption of these clubs came based on their advanced ranking in African participations during the last five years, and it concerns Al Ahly of Egypt, Union of the Algerian capital, the Royal Army, Chabab Belouizdad of Algeria, Raja Sports, along with three clubs from the East and Central Africa region: Maniema Union of Congo, Dynamos of Zimbabwe, and Azam of Tanzania.
Meanwhile, the participation of ZFC team in the preliminary round of the Confederation Cup was confirmed after qualifying for the tournament for the first time in its history following its promotion to the Egyptian League.
The preliminary rounds of the African Champions League and Confederation Cup competitions are scheduled to begin in September 2026, with the group stage to be held between November 2026 and January 2027, and the finals of both competitions to take place from May 9 to 31, 2027.
