The African Football Confederation "CAF" has settled on the clubs participating in the first preliminary round of the African Champions League, in which Zamalek participates as the Egyptian League champion and Pyramids as the runner-up of the tournament.
The Competitions Committee at CAF decided to exempt only three clubs from playing in the first preliminary round of the Champions League, according to their advanced ranking in African participations during the last five years.
Thus, 61 clubs participate in the first preliminary round, including Zamalek and Pyramids, after exempting the three clubs.
CAF had set next Thursday, corresponding to August 6, as the date for holding the draw for the preliminary round of the African Champions League and the African Confederation Cup at the union's headquarters in Cairo.

It is indicated that the preliminary rounds of the African Champions League and Confederation Cup tournaments will begin in September 2026, and the group stages will be held in the period between November 2026 and January 2027, and the finals of the two competitions will be held during the period from 9 to 31 May 2027.
