The Saudi Al-Ahli Club is close to finalizing the file of the alternative to the German coach Matthias Jaissle, who recently departed to take charge of the Newcastle team in the new season.
The Saudi newspaper "Asharq Al-Awsat" revealed that the German coach Ole Werner has given his approval to coach the Al-Ahli team in the new 2026-2027 season.
The Saudi newspaper added that the current period is witnessing the final procedures related to drafting the contracts and completing some contractual details, before the official announcement of the deal.
The newspaper pointed out that the 38-year-old coach has experience in the German league and is distinguished by a style based on tactical organization and high pressing, which aligns with the technical vision that Al-Ahli Club seeks to implement in the upcoming season.
The German coach has experiences in the German league, most notably with Werder Bremen and RB Leipzig, but he is currently without a club after leaving Leipzig last June.
The Al-Ahli team is set to compete in several important tournaments, most notably defending the AFC Champions League Elite title, which it won in the last two editions.
The western team is also scheduled to participate in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup against Auckland City, the New Zealand champion, in a match to be held at Al-Inma Stadium on August 26.
Al-Ahli will also compete in the local competitions, starting with the Saudi Roshn League, the King Cup, and the Saudi Super Cup, which it won last season after defeating Al-Nassr.
