Egyptian referees underwent medical examination in preparation for participating in managing the matches of the new season.
Referee Mustafa Al-Shahdi was present among the referees to undergo the medical examination.
Al-Shahdi suffered an injury with a torn cruciate ligament during Modern Sport's match against Al-Jouna last April.
The Football Association clarified that the international referees, as well as the Premier League and Professional League referees, have begun undergoing medical examinations, under the supervision of the Medical Committee of the Egyptian Football Association, in preparation for participating in managing the matches of the new 2026/2027 season.
Al-Shahdi underwent surgery to repair a torn cruciate ligament in the knee at one of the hospitals in 6th of October last May.
Al-Shahdi fell on the pitch during the first half of the Modern and Al-Jouna match, and the medical staff intervened to provide him with treatment.
The referee stood up but was unable to complete the match, so he left the pitch and the fourth official replaced him to complete the match.
Fourth official Mohamed Abdel-Awad completed the match instead of Mustafa Al-Shahdi.
Al-Shahdi said in statements to the official association website: "I am completely satisfied with God's will and decree, and I have great determination and am extremely motivated to start the rehabilitation program as soon as possible."
He added: "I seek to return to the pitches and perform my refereeing duties as soon as possible and with the required efficiency."
Mustafa Al-Shahdi had previously officiated 17 matches in the past season between the Egyptian League, the Egypt Cup, and the League Cup.
Al-Shahdi issued 80 yellow cards and issued red cards 4 times.
He also awarded 7 penalties.
