After 3 years.. President of the Qatari Federation announces his resignation from his position

Jassim Al-Buainain, President of the Qatari Federation, announced his resignation from his position.

Qatar's national team bid farewell to the 2026 World Cup from the group stage after finishing last in the second group.

Al-Buainain wrote on his X account: "The trace of the steps remains a witness to the achievements made, and the work established that bore tangible success. It was a stage full of challenges, but with determination and sincerity, ambitions turned into reality, and goals were achieved that some thought were out of reach."

He added: "I announce my resignation after 3 years in which I served by working as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatari Football Association."

He continued: "I leave today, having been honored to work with some of the loyal colleagues who carried the trust with sincerity, so success was a natural fruit of their efforts and dedication. They have my sincere thanks and appreciation."

He continued: "To everyone who believed that true building is made with honest work away from noise and narrow interests, the achievements will remain the best witness that the public interest was and will remain above all consideration, and that sincere intentions are capable of overcoming all obstacles."

He concluded: "I leave the position today… and loyalty to the covenant remains, pride in all that has been achieved, and prayer that the journey of Qatari football continues towards more success, progress, and prosperity."

The Qatari national team drew with Switzerland with a goal for each team, before suffering two losses to Canada 6-0, and Bosnia 3-1.

Qatar's national team participated in the World Cup for the second time in its history, after hosting the 2022 World Cup.
