Saudi club Al-Shabab announced the signing of Ghanaian Thomas Partey on a free transfer.

Al-Shabab introduced their new signing on their official website under the headline: "Partey chose the right side of the capital... A world star lights up the north of the capital."

The Saudi capital, Riyadh, is home to the clubs Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Shabab, and Al-Taawoun.

Ghanaian Thomas Partey underwent a medical examination on Thursday evening at a hospital in Riyadh.

Partey arrived in Riyadh on Thursday, where he was welcomed by Al-Shabab officials, before heading directly to the hospital for his medical check-up.

During his career, Partey has played for Spanish clubs Atletico Madrid and Villarreal, as well as English club Arsenal.

The 33-year-old Partey played 32 matches for Villarreal in all competitions last season, without scoring or providing any assists.

Partey also represented the Ghana national team at the recent 2026 World Cup.

Al-Shabab lost their opening match in the Saudi League to Al-Qadsiah 3-1.

The team also exited the King's Cup early after a 3-2 defeat to Al-Wehda.

Al-Shabab will face Al-Khaleej at 9:00 PM on Saturday in the second round of the Saudi League.
