Journalistic reports have revealed new developments regarding Barcelona club's interest in securing the services of Atlético Madrid star Julián Álvarez during the current summer transfer window for 2026.
It is no secret Barcelona 's interest in signing Julián Álvarez from Atlético Madrid, after they submitted an offer to conclude the deal last June, an offer that was met with mockery from the other club.
Julián Álvarez stated during the World Cup his desire to leave his club, without naming Barcelona, but Atlético Madrid filed an official complaint against the Blaugrana for entering into negotiations with a player under a valid contract without permission.
Spanish newspaper "eldesmarque" reported that Julián Álvarez's representatives are scheduled to travel to Barcelona later this week to hold a meeting with officials of the Catalan club to discuss developments in this hot file.

It added that Julián Álvarez's file will be discussed between Barcelona's sporting director Deco and the agents of the Atlético Madrid player.
For its part, Spanish newspaper "Sport" stated that among the measures being studied is developing an effective strategy to ensure the success of Álvarez's transfer to Barcelona, including increasing the value of the offer on the table.
Barcelona's offer to sign Álvarez reached a financial value of 100 million euros, and may rise to 115 million euros, in order to tempt Atlético Madrid into accepting the deal, despite the difficulty of the matter given a release clause valued at 500 million euros.
