FIFA, the International Football Association, sang the praises of the Egyptian national team's journey in the 2026 World Cup edition, which concluded last Sunday evening with the final match.
The curtain fell on the World Cup between Argentina and Spain, the day before yesterday, at "MetLife" Stadium, where Luis de la Fuente's squad won with a goal without reply.
The Egyptian national team bid farewell to the World Cup from the round of 16 after a historic run, having suffered defeat at the hands of Argentina by three goals to two.

FIFA wrote on its official website: "Egypt's journey in the World Cup succeeded in changing the global perception of the Pharaohs, as after overcoming the disappointment of their group stage exit in the 2018 Russia edition, they reached the round of 16 this time".
It added: "In that edition of the World Cup, Egypt achieved its first win in the World Cup, along with its first victory in the knockout stages, and was on the verge of achieving one of the biggest surprises in the tournament's history when it took the lead against Argentina in Atlanta".
It continued: "But Mohamed Salah was not destined to secure the win after the 2022 world champions mounted a comeback to settle the match in their favor, in one of the many dramatic comebacks in the final minutes".
