Lionel Scaloni, the technical director of the Argentine national team, made new statements to the media after returning to his hometown in his country, where the team members returned in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Scaloni said, in statements published by the Argentine newspaper "Olé": "Thanks to everyone, we did everything we could, we lost and did not win the cup, but we feel satisfied, it pains us not to please the fans, we play for them and for our families, but we are satisfied because we gave everything we had, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose".
He added: "We reached the final and this is not an easy thing, the first days are difficult, we have to move forward, the important thing is that people appreciate that, it is wonderful, I always give the example of my son, who is 10 years old, after two or three hours of the loss he gets over it, we did not win the cup, but we achieved unity among us".

He continued: "My future? I will stay here until the end of my contract in December, today the matter is painful and complicated, I do not know if that is the best national team for Argentina in history".
He went on: "We have to acknowledge as Argentines that the opponent played well and was superior to us in the final, but we also made things difficult for them, we lost because they were the best, we have to admit that, they played better than us, we were barely at full fitness".
He stated: "Argentina is always a strong competitor and a candidate to win in football matches, we have to admit that we lost deservedly, I did not speak with the team after the final, the captain (Lionel Messi) spoke, I spoke with a few of them, there was not much to say, sadness was dominant".
