Mostafa Ziko, a player for Pyramids FC, revealed the reason for his absence from his team's matches at the start of the current season.
Ziko said in a statement via his club's media center: "I had a minor knee injury, but I am feeling better now and have returned to group training. I will be ready for the match against Gouna in the Egyptian League."
He added: "The match against Gor Mahia is very difficult, and African away matches are always tough. We want to achieve a positive result in the first leg to make the second leg easier."
He continued: "The start is very important in the African Champions League, so we want to return from Kenya with a positive result."
He concluded: "We have won the African Champions League title before, and we want to do it again. Our start will be against Gor Mahia."
Ziko missed Pyramids FC's first three matches in the Egyptian League this season.
Ziko shone with an impressive performance for the Egyptian national team at the World Cup, scoring two goals.
Pyramids FC will face Kenyan side Gor Mahia as guests tomorrow, Sunday, at 3:00 PM at the Nyayo National Stadium in the capital, Nairobi, in the first leg of the preliminary round of the continental tournament.
