Ahmed Suleiman, a member of the Zamalek Club Board of Directors, confirmed that negotiations by the Bulgarian club Ludogorets to sign Hossam Abdel Majid, the team's player, began before his participation in the 2026 World Cup.
Ahmed Suleiman said in statements to MBC Egypt channel: "The situation regarding Hossam Abdel Majid was not presented to us in the Zamalek Board of Directors, but the matter is considered complicated, because the club needs the player."
He added: "So far, no decision has been made, as the offer is still under study, whether to approve it or reject it, but it does exist."
He continued: "According to the information available to me, the player had two offers, the first from Sharjah of the Emirates, and the other Bulgarian, and there are no other offers. There was previous interest from Sharjah of the Emirates, but no agreement was reached."
He completed: "The situation is complicated, because Hossam Abdel Majid's contract has only one season left, and his annual salary is low, amounting to only 3 million pounds. There should have been greater appreciation for him, especially since the contracts of a number of players were recently modified and their value increased."
He continued: "The truth is that Hossam Abdel Majid did not receive the financial compensation he deserves, and his salary was less than what suits his level during the past period, so he should not be blamed if he decides to pursue a professional experience."
He went on: "With one year remaining in his contract, a professional opportunity came to him, and I also heard that the club that wants to sign him will participate in a European championship, which makes the situation more difficult, especially since he is still a young player, in addition to the low value of his contract with the club."
Suleiman explained that the value of Ludogorets' offer to sign Hossam Abdel Majid amounts to about one million seven hundred thousand dollars, or one million five hundred thousand euros, with Zamalek retaining 20% of any resale.
He revealed: "The other problem remains the registration ban, so can Hossam Abdel Majid be convinced to stay exceptionally during this season without renewing his contract? And can someone convince him to continue, knowing that next season will be the last in his contract?"
Ahmed Suleiman concluded his statements by saying: "What I know is that the Bulgarian offer came before the 2026 World Cup, but in the end, the position of Hossam Abdel Majid and the Zamalek administration remains complicated and difficult."
