Zamalek fans attacked the refereeing crew officiating their team's match against Suez Petrojet, as part of the third-round fixtures of the Egyptian Premier League.
Zamalek players demanded a penalty kick in the 56th minute of the match following an intervention by the Suez Petrojet goalkeeper on Chekoubanza, who fell inside the penalty area.
The match was paused for the referee to review the video assistant referee (VAR), which instructed that play continue normally without awarding a penalty to Zamalek, while Suez Petrojet players called for a yellow card to be shown to the Angolan player for simulation.
Zamalek fans quickly began chanting "A hundred percent acting," clearly expressing their objection to the referee's decision to continue the match without awarding a penalty for the incident involving Chekoubanza.
The Referees Committee of the Egyptian Football Association had previously announced assigning referee Tarek Magdy, assisted by Islam Abu El-Atta and Oday Eid, to officiate the Zamalek versus Suez Petrojet match.
Zamalek leads Suez Petrojet by two goals in the Egyptian Premier League, scored by Hossam Ashraf and Mohamed El-Sayed.
