Zamalek managed to secure a valuable 2-0 lead against their opponents, AS Port of Djibouti, in their CAF Champions League match.

Zamalek faced host AS Port at Cairo Stadium on Friday evening in the first leg of the preliminary round one of the 2026/2027 CAF Champions League.

Zamalek stuns AS Port with a brace

The first goal for Zamalek came in the sixth minute through Mohamed Shahata, following a brilliant individual run by Chico Banza into the Djiboutian team's penalty area from the left flank.

Chico delivered a cross that the AS Port goalkeeper attempted to clear, but it reached Mohamed Shahata, who had no difficulty slotting it into the empty net, giving the White Knights an early lead.

Chico Banza succeeded in scoring the second goal for Zamalek against AS Port, the Djiboutian champions, in the 37th minute of the match, confirming the White Knights' strong resurgence and complicating the opponent's task.

Zamalek's second goal came after a corner kick from the right side reached Chico Banza, who rose magnificently and headed it powerfully to the left of the Djiboutian goalkeeper, sending the ball into the net.
