Zamalek Club announced the continued absence of their international player Ahmed Fathou from the match against AS Port Djibouti.
Zamalek will play against Port shortly in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
Zamalek revealed through its media center that the technical staff, led by Moataz Gamal, decided to rest left-back Ahmed Fathou from the AS Port match.
Zamalek clarified that the decision was made due to the player's lack of fitness, despite his insistence on joining his teammates at the team camp for the match against the Djiboutian champion, as Ahmed Fathou trained only once before the match due to illness.
Fathou will miss his second consecutive match for Zamalek after previously missing the game against Petrojet Suez due to illness.
Earlier, FilGoal.com learned that the technical staff decided to rely on Mohamed Sobhi to guard Zamalek's goal against Port instead of Mehdi Soliman. (See details)
Mehdi Soliman played all three of Zamalek's matches in the league so far in their entirety.
Both the first and second legs against AS Port Djibouti will be held at Cairo International Stadium.
The winner of the Zamalek vs. Port match will face the winner of the matches between Congolese Eagles and Rwandan Army in the Round of 32.
