Al Ahly Club continues its moves in the ongoing summer transfer market, in order to strengthen the ranks of the first team, and the name of Moroccan Sofiane Benjdida has emerged among the club's main targets.

Al Ahly had shown interest in signing Sofiane Benjdida, the attacking star of Maghreb Fez team, during the current summer mercato, at the request of technical director Hussein Amouta.

Developments in Al Ahly's negotiations to sign Sofiane Benjdida

A source at Al Ahly Club said in statements to Yalla Koura that the administration faces two obstacles in its way to concluding the contract with Benjdida.

The first obstacle is the financial aspect, as officials of Maghreb Fez Club demanded a sum of 4 million euros, while Al Ahly's offer reached 2.5 million euros.

The second obstacle came on the family side, as the player's wife expressed reservations about the idea of moving to Al Ahly, which led to postponing the conclusion of the deal despite the great progress that the negotiations witnessed.

Despite the player's initial welcome to the experience of playing for Al Ahly Club, his wife's position on the transfer and residence in Cairo caused the negotiations to stall.

For his part, Hussein Amouta demanded the signing of a striker who possesses speed and the ability to move inside the penalty area, to strengthen the forward line before the start of the new 2026/2027 season.

Last season, Sofiane Benjdida presented an amazing level with Maghreb Fez, as he contributed to the team's crowning with the local league title, scoring 20 goals and making 2, during 31 matches in all competitions.

The market value of 24-year-old Sofiane Benjdida is close to (2.20 million euros), and he is proficient in playing in the center forward and both right and left wing positions, according to the "Transfermarkt" website.
