Hany Abu Rida, President of the Egyptian Football Association, held a meeting with Essam El-Fattah, Head of the Referees Committee, on Monday to discuss several matters related to the refereeing system.
The Egyptian Premier League has witnessed a state of controversy regarding refereeing in its new "2026-2027" season, the latest of which involved allegations against international referee Mohamed Marouf during the match between Al Ahly and Zed.

A source within the Football Association revealed to "Yalla Kora" that Essam El-Fattah requested Abu Rida to refer any player to the Disciplinary Committee in the event of any violations against referees.
He added that Essam El-Fattah believes there are many unjustified objections against the referees and the committee.
The same source clarified that El-Fattah explained to Abu Rida during their meeting the mechanisms for dealing with referees and how to overcome errors in the coming phase.
The source revealed that Abu Rida requested Essam El-Fattah not to appear in the media and that any statements should be made through the association's official platforms.
