Hussein El-Shahat, star of Al Ahly’s first football team, was content to watch his team’s victory over Smouha from the bench, despite the win coming in the final minutes.
Moroccan coach Hossam El Moutawakel opted to bring on the duo of Mansour Boujida and Mohamed Magdy Afsha as attacking options, while El-Shahat remained on the bench.
El-Shahat had previously come on as a substitute in the 86th minute in matches against El-Sharkia, Enppi, and Zed.
A source inside Al Ahly told Yalla Kora in an exclusive statement: “Things are normal with Hussein El-Shahat, and his non-inclusion is a tactical decision by Hossam El Moutawakel.”
He added: “El Moutawakel is aware of El-Shahat’s abilities, but he believes the most suitable position for him is the left wing.”
He concluded: “Ashraf Ben Sharqi occupies that position in the starting lineup and has been performing excellently since the start of the season. El-Shahat will get his chance as the matches continue and the pressure of the competitions builds.”
