Garry Kasparov, the Russian chess legend, criticized the referee's decisions in the Egypt vs. Argentina match at the World Cup, confirming that the Pharaohs were wronged in the encounter.
Kasparov wrote on his Twitter account: "A wonderful Egyptian goal was canceled due to a foul committed far from the ball".
He added, "Then minutes later the same situation occurred and the Argentine goal was not canceled".
He wondered, saying: "There is no video technology, or anything? It seems FIFA is once again a corrupt organization that favors the stars and gives them priority".
The Egyptian Football Association submitted a complaint to the International Federation "FIFA" following the events of the Egypt vs. Argentina match at the World Cup.
French referee François Letexier sparked controversy after his officiating decisions during the match.
The Football Association revealed through its media center that Hani Abu Rida, the association president, filed a complaint with FIFA demanding an investigation into the referee following the grave officiating errors.
The Football Association stated, "The French referee committed grave officiating errors and applied double standards, which caused the Egyptian national team to lose the match and exit the World Cup."
The Football Association explained, "Abu Rida demanded an investigation into the entire officiating crew, including the video assistant referees, due to the blatant errors and the insistence on not reviewing certain incidents that we believe favored the Egyptian national team and in which we see the Pharaohs' right to a valid goal and a penalty kick."
It added, "Abu Rida called for the exclusion of the referee and the entire crew from the World Cup after investigating these errors and proving the crime of discrimination against the Egyptian national team and causing its loss of the match and its exit from the tournament."
It added, "Abu Rida praised the performance of the Egyptian national team players, describing them as heroes and their performance as historic against the defending champions, while at the same time expressing his apology to the Egyptian people and Egyptian football fans for failing to maintain the lead until the end of the match and achieve the Egyptians' dream."
Abu Rida expressed his deep gratitude and that of the entire delegation for all the support the Egyptian national team received from the fans, the media, officials, and the political leadership.
The Egyptian national team bid farewell to the World Cup in the round of 16 after losing to Argentina 3-2.
