Didier Deschamps, coach of the French national team, believes that physical condition may play a crucial role in the match against Morocco, confirming that predictions do not grant any advantage on the field.
The French national team is preparing to face Morocco tomorrow, Thursday, in the quarter-final round of the 2026 World Cup currently taking place in the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico.
Deschamps said via Moroccan Sports: "Physical condition is always an important element in major tournaments, but all the teams that have reached this stage have played five matches, and each team has its own circumstances in terms of recovery, rest periods, and temperatures".
He continued, "We played our last match in conditions reaching 40 degrees Celsius, then trained during the past two days in rainy weather and a temperature close to 20 degrees, and it is natural for the players' bodies to be exhausted".
He added, "This factor will be very important, and I think it may make the difference, because we see many goals scored after the 85th minute, which reflects the impact of fatigue and the decline in defensive ability over time".
He revealed, "I have followed what the Moroccan national team has presented since the beginning of the tournament with its coach; they have things they execute excellently, and they are also capable of making some tactical adjustments, which is what I also do with my team".
He continued, "It will be a match that depends on the balance of power between two great teams, like any match at this stage; there is a ticket to the semi-finals, and therefore each side will make its choices before the start, then there will be decisions during the match from my side and from the Moroccan coach's side".
He concluded his remarks about France's chances and said: "This does not concern me; in football, matches are not decided by predictions, and what I know is that there is a ticket to the semi-finals, and we must do everything we have to secure it".
The French national team qualified for the quarter-finals after overcoming the obstacle of the Paraguay national team with a goal to nothing, while Morocco achieved a big victory against Canada with three goals to nothing.
