Pedro Baptista, the coach of Cape Verde, believes that his team honored their country with the performance they delivered during the 2026 World Cup.
The Cape Verde national team exited the World Cup from the round of 32 after losing to Argentina by three goals to two.
Baptista told reporters after the match: "It's about feeling proud of the team and the technical staff, and I think we honored our country. We played against the world champion and came back in the score twice, and the match extended to extra time."
He continued, "We lost the match due to a set piece, but the important thing is that we are proud of the players. Our country showed its dignity in this tournament, and we proved our character and identity."
The Argentine national team faced great difficulty during the match, which extended to extra time and was close to penalty kicks.
