South African coach Pitso Mosimane returned to the Cairo International Stadium, but this time wearing the South Africa jersey.

The "Bafana Bafana" national team played a friendly match against Egypt at the end of the current international break, with the "Pharaohs" losing by a single goal.

The visitors' only goal came in the 51st minute through Bosu Dithegane, following a counter-attack after an erroneous clearance by goalkeeper Mostafa Shobair. The ball fell to the South African player, who dribbled past Hossam Abdel Magid and scored into the empty net.

Mosimane returns to Cairo Stadium after 1681 days

Mosimane played at the Cairo Stadium again, but this time wearing the South Africa national team jersey, 1681 days after his last appearance there prior to leaving Egypt.

This occurred when he was the coach of Al Ahly, where the manager achieved numerous notable accomplishments that remain etched in the minds of the "Red Devils" fans, most notably the 2020 CAF Champions League final against Zamalek.

The last match Mosimane played at this stadium with Al Ahly was against Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League, on February 26, 2022.

Al Ahly lost that match under Mosimane's leadership in the group stage of the tournament, with a score of 1-0.

Mosimane did not play any matches with Al Ahly at the Cairo International Stadium afterwards, before leaving the team, then returning to Egypt once more and participating at the same venue but with the South Africa national team.
