The Sfaxien Club officially announced its participation in the African Confederation Cup tournament next season, after finishing third in the Tunisian Football League last season.
Sfaxien was threatened with non-participation in the African Confederation due to the club's failure to settle its financial dues, similar to Zamalek Club in Egypt.
Sfaxien Club wrote on its Facebook account: "The Sfaxien Sports Club informs its fans that the First Division Committee of the Tunisian Football Federation decided, during its meeting held today, the official qualification of the club to participate in the African Confederation Cup football competition for the 2026-2027 sports season".

The Sfaxien administration had announced yesterday, Thursday, the settlement of the financial files that were preventing the team from participating in official competitions, which were with Portuguese coach Alexandre Santos, Nino, Tamam Hamdoun, Wadhah Al-Zaydi, Jaouso Traore, and Pedrosa.
It also revealed reaching settlement agreements with Kofi Kwame, Amin Al-Haboubi, and the Sfaxien Railways Club, with payment of the first installment of the dues according to the concluded agreements.
It indicated that Sfaxien has fulfilled all the required procedures and conditions to ensure its official participation in the Tunisian League championship and the African Confederation Cup competitions for the 2026-2027 sports season.
With Sfaxien, the third-place finisher in the Tunisian League, announcing its participation in the Confederation, it may be with Al-Ahly in the same tournament next season, after finishing in the same position in the Egyptian League, but a CAF decision may change the matter.
Hani Abu Rida, the head of the Football Association, had submitted a request to grant some national federations an additional seat in the African Champions League, with the seats to be distributed according to the continental ranking and the regulatory bylaws adopted by CAF.
Al-Ahly awaits the African Union decision to return to participating in the African Champions League after finishing third in the Egyptian League last season.
Reports had revealed that the Executive Office of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will meet on Sunday morning in the Moroccan capital Rabat, with all its members present, to discuss the proposal to increase the number of seats in the African Champions League competition.
