German Jens Vissing, the head coach of Saudi club Al-Ittihad, put an end to the debate surrounding the possibility of signing Egyptian international Iman Ashour, a player for Al-Ahly Club.
Al-Ittihad is seeking to sign a new midfielder to fill the void left by the departures of Frenchman N'Golo Kanté and Brazilian Fabinho, with Iman Ashour's name emerging strongly in recent times.
Al-Ittihad responds to the signing of Iman Ashour
Speaking after Al-Ittihad's match against Al-Qadsiah, Jens Vissing addressed the club's position in the ongoing summer transfer window, particularly regarding the future of winger Moussa Diaby and the truth behind the signing of Iman Ashour.
Al-Ittihad's coach refused to comment on reports concerning the departure of Frenchman Moussa Diaby or the club's potential signing of Iman Ashour during the current transfer window.
Vissing stated: "I will not talk about anything other than Al-Ittihad's match against Al-Qadsiah, on this happy night for Al-Ittihad fans, following a 1-0 victory."
He added in the same context: "If you ask me about any player, whether it is Moussa Diaby or anyone else, I will not answer."
He continued: "The spirit and sacrifice behind Al-Ittihad's victory over Al-Qadsiah were key. The players took responsibility and fought until the end, especially after the red card early in the second half."
He added: "When the spirit is present, the great Al-Ittihad, with its history rich in titles, is present. This is what we always want. We are a big team, and we faced one of the best teams in Saudi Arabia. We had our say because everyone gave their all, worked hard, and took responsibility."
He concluded: "It was a difficult match, and there was significant pressure on us, but our players performed with courage and sacrifice until the end. At Al-Ittihad, it is not just about tactics; it is also about spirit, sacrifice, and the effort the players put in."
Al-Ahly rejects Konyaspor's offer to sign Iman Ashour
Konyaspor had submitted several offers to Al-Ahly in recent weeks to sign Iman Ashour, but all attempts have failed so far.
Al-Ahly Club issued an official statement last week announcing its rejection of Konyaspor's offer to sign Iman Ashour for 4.5 million euros, payable over three years, confirming that the player is not available for sale.
