In the 80th minute, Monsef, an Al-Ahly player, fell inside the opponent's penalty area after being fouled by a Smouha player near the foot, prompting Al-Ahly players to demand a penalty kick.
However, the match referee, Amin Omar, decided not to award a penalty kick and allowed play to continue despite protests from Al-Ahly players.

In a related development, Yasser Ibrahim scored the opening goal for the Red Fortress in the 86th minute with a powerful right-footed shot from outside the penalty area into the far corner past the Smouha goalkeeper.
This marked Yasser Ibrahim's first goal for the Red Fortress in five months, as his previous goal came during a 1-1 draw between Al-Ahly and their hosts Ceramica Cleopatra last April.
With this 1-0 result, Al-Ahly raised their points total to 9, sharing the league top spot with Pyramids FC, while Smouha remains winless after losing all three matches played so far.
