Wael Gomaa, Al-Ahly's football director, commented on the team's hard-fought victory against Sharqia Enppi in the first round of the Egyptian Premier League.
Gomaa expressed his dissatisfaction with the match events, noting that Amr El-Solaya (Amouta) intervened at the right time to save the team from a difficult loss in their first game of the season.
Wael Gomaa's Statements
Wael Gomaa said in statements via Al-Ahly TV: "I was not satisfied with the pace of the match, but the win is what matters most for us. I wished we had been more focused; focus was lacking in the first half, but we got into the rhythm of the game somewhat in the second half. This lesson is very important at the start."
He added: "I hope we benefit from it. Ultimately, the goal is to achieve victory. The match was extremely difficult, but coming back and securing the win is important."
Regarding Amouta's decisions, he continued: "The coach intervened at the right time and made the appropriate changes at the right moments. He had his own decisions that helped us win, and certainly, the season will be extremely challenging."
Wael Gomaa concluded his remarks by addressing fan support, saying: "I felt as if I were a player on the team. I thank the fans for their support; they kept cheering until the final minute. I promise them that performance in upcoming matches will definitely be better."
Al-Ahly defeated Sharqia Enppi 3-2, despite trailing 2-1 during the first half, before the Red Devils mounted a comeback in the second half.
