UEFA announced on Thursday evening that it has temporarily suspended its plans to withdraw European national teams from FIFA competitions, after FIFA confirmed it has definitively abandoned the controversial "FIFA Forward Enterprise" project.

UEFA stated on its official website that it obtained written assurances confirming that the proposal supported by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the Swiss,

which was intended to allow the sale of a stake linked to future World Cup tournaments to external investors, has been "permanently and irreversibly withdrawn."

UEFA continued in its statement: "After receiving the two assurances requested from FIFA on July 30, and following consultations with member national associations, UEFA has agreed to temporarily suspend the withdrawal of European national teams from FIFA competitions for the upcoming season."

Although UEFA confirmed that the broader governance crisis within FIFA remains unresolved, noting that European football officials unanimously granted it a mandate to pursue all available institutional, political, and legal avenues to enforce reforms and reimpose restrictions on the powers of the FIFA President.

Furthermore, UEFA called for a truly independent external review of the abandoned FIFA Forward Enterprise project.

UEFA concluded its statement by emphasizing: "FIFA cannot investigate itself and expect the football community to simply accept the conclusions it reaches."
