Ireland's players repeated what happened in the first match against Israel during the UEFA Nations League, but they ultimately drew 1-1.
The two teams played within the fourth round of the UEFA Nations League, and the match was held in Serbia after the first meeting took place in Hungary.
Although the match was scheduled to be played in Dublin, the capital of Ireland, it was held in Serbia without spectators, due to the Irish Football Association announcing that "operational challenges" could affect its ability to organize the match in Ireland.
This came following protests calling for Ireland not to play against Israel. A friendly match between Ireland and Qatar at the Aviva Stadium last May was stopped twice when protesters threw tennis balls bearing Palestinian flags onto the pitch.
The first encounter between the two national teams last week ended with an Irish victory by a score of 3-0.
Before the start of the match, Ireland's players bowed their heads during the playing of the opponent's national anthem, wore black armbands, and did not shake hands with the opposing players before kickoff.
The first half ended with a single goal for Ireland, as Troy Parrott scored the opening goal from a penalty kick in the 39th minute.
The opponents equalized in the second half to earn their second point in the group, which they currently top the bottom of the standings for.
Meanwhile, the Irish team remained third with 5 points, behind Kosovo on head-to-head record.
Austria leads the standings with 8 points after four rounds.
