The leaders of the continental football federations continue their rebellion against Gianni Infantino, president of the international federation, FIFA, as they seek to oust him from his position amid intense anger towards him regarding his recent proposal.
Gianni Infantino was the originator of the idea of allocating profits from the World Cup to private sector investors, which sparked a massive wave of anger against him from the continental federations.
Although the mentioned idea was abandoned in an official statement from FIFA, the English newspaper "The Times" reported that the leaders of UEFA, CONCACAF, and the Asian Football Confederation are seeking to take decisive action against Infantino.
It explained that the mentioned parties are looking to oust Infantino from his position, or else they will be forced to create their own rival tournament.

It reported that UEFA is the strictest federation in this regard, enjoying support from other continental organizations, and that it is prepared to create its own tournament and possesses a plan for a world league, after being tasked with establishing a league in 2017 without implementing it.
A source told the same newspaper: "Everyone is determined on Infantino's departure; if he does not do so, we will take all necessary steps to remove him from his position, including future international tournaments."
He added: "Do the major countries in South America prefer to play matches against France and Spain, or against Lebanon and Djibouti? (in a comparison of the vast gap in ranking and strength). Everyone is extremely determined; there is no room for retreat."
Infantino aspires to be re-elected as FIFA president in the elections next March, which would represent his fourth term.
