Yves Torup, the new technical director of Belgian Genk, reviewed his achievements in the coaching world, pointing out that he had previously led Al-Ahmar, which is supported by 80 million people.
Torup had returned to coach Genk this summer, after Nicky Hayen, the former coach of the Belgian team, moved to coach English Burnley.
Yves Torup said in statements to the Belgian newspaper Nieuwsblad: "Returning to coach Genk? Certainly, I only stayed here for two months before, but I remember that period with great pleasure".
The Danish coach added: "Genk is a great club, with enthusiastic fans, and an excellent reputation in Europe, but I have also previously won the league title with Copenhagen, and reached the group stage of the Champions League with them".
He continued: "I have also previously delivered a good performance for two seasons with Augsburg in the German Bundesliga, and played in Egypt with Al Ahly, the club that has 80 million fans".
He concluded: "Nevertheless, I made a quick decision to return to Genk club, and signed a contract for three seasons, because I still aspire to achieve more here".
Regarding his previous departure from coaching Genk to take over the technical leadership of Copenhagen, he said: "The Danish club is a public joint-stock company, and no information is allowed to be leaked in it before an important event, such as the appointment of a new coach".
Yves Torup concluded his statements by saying: "So everything had to be completed in complete secrecy; I was officially appointed at nine in the morning, and I was at the training ground at ten, and in the following days, it was impossible to return to Belgium".
