Jes Thorup, the technical director of Belgian Genk, dispensed with all the assistants who worked with him during his experience with Al Ahly Club.
Belgian club Genk announced Thorup's assistant staff for training the team, as none of the foreign elements that previously worked with the Danish coach at Al Ahly were present.
Genk's technical staff includes the Belgian assistant coach, Peter Baletti, instead of the Hungarian, Imre Sabitsch, who held the same position during Jes Thorup's experience with Al Ahly.
The new technical director of Genk also excluded his assistant at Al Ahly, Johnny Mulby, replacing him at Genk with coach Domenico Oliveri, while Steven Fredericks was in the position of goalkeepers coach, instead of Kai Steensen.
Thorup also decided to exclude Jacob Willum, the fitness coach during his time with Al Ahly, and include Glenn Van Rijckegem instead at Genk, while Thor Eickmans was present as a performance analyst, instead of Niklas Orbeck.
So far, none of the elements of Jes Thorup's assistant staff at Al Ahly have been able to find any other club since leaving the Reds at the end of last season, and the same applies to the Egyptian elements, such as Adel Mustafa and Walid Salah El Din.
For his part, Jes Thorup hinted at the possibility of adding new elements to his assistant staff, as he said in statements to the Belgian newspaper Nieuwsblad: "It's not as if I arrived at a new club with a small bus full of new staff members".
He added: "I agreed with the Genk administration to take a closer look first, and only then will we decide whether we will add any new elements, who we will add, and what they will add".
Jes Thorup concluded his statements by saying: "The changes may include an additional assistant, a set-piece specialist, or a performance analyst; things will become clear in the coming weeks".
