Media personality Ahmed Shobier clarified Al Ahly's stance on freezing Imam Ashour, the first-team midfielder, in the event he does not renew his contract with the Red Fortress.

Imam Ashour's contract with Al Ahly Club expires in the summer of 2028, amid reports that the player is unwilling to renew with the Red Fortress and is considering a professional stint in Europe.

Shobier stated in remarks via his radio program: "Al Ahly will not freeze Imam Ashour if he does not renew his contract; he will likely be part of the team for the next match or the one after that."

He added: "If Imam Ashour does not renew his contract with Al Ahly, there is no problem; he will continue as usual. He said he was injured recently, and we believed him. He returned and trained with the team. He had hoped to be included in today's matchday squad against El Sharqia El Entab in the league."

He concluded: "However, Imam was not included in Al Ahly's squad for today's match. He may be included in the next match's squad, but it is certain that the player is not frozen."
