The Supreme Council for Media Regulation, headed by Engineer Khaled Abdel Aziz, announced the postponement of implementing the penalties recommended by the specialized committees regarding a number of media professionals and sports programs, in light of the media performance accompanying the Egyptian national team's participation in the 2026 World Cup, taking into account the state of public and media rallying behind the team.

The Council clarified in a statement that the Sports Media Performance Regulation Committee had monitored a number of professional violations during the tournament's coverage, despite praising the responsible performance delivered by the vast majority of media professionals, affirming that the media message contributed to supporting the team and conveying the state of public rallying around it.

The statement indicated that the specialized committees recommended banning Reda Abdel Aal from appearing in all media outlets for four months, with a final warning to take additional measures should violations continue, alongside imposing a financial fine of 200,000 pounds on TEN channel due to content broadcast on the program "Al Primo" presented by media professional Islam Sadiq.

The recommendations also included issuing notices to Mohamed Farouk, Osama Hassan, Khaled Al-Ghandour, Magdy Abdel Ghani, Bassem Morsi, Afaf Nassar, Islam Sadiq, Ahmed Jamal, and Ahmed Osama.

The Council affirmed that it decided to postpone activating these recommendations and grant all parties a final opportunity to comply with the law, media codes, and professional standards, stressing that any repetition of violations will result in the implementation of the postponed penalties, in addition to taking appropriate legal measures regarding any new transgressions.

The Council concluded its statement by emphasizing the importance of adhering to responsible professional media that serves the public interest of Egyptian sports and promotes objective criticism away from transgressions or insults.
