In the published video, Gamal El-Ghandour, Vice President of the Referees Committee, confirmed that Ashraf Bencharqi attempted to play the ball, while the Enppi player tried to push the attacker.
El-Ghandour explained that in such a situation, the defender does not need to exert strong force against the attacker positioned inside the penalty area to cause him to fall, as the push was sufficient to bring down Bencharqi.
Accordingly, the decision to award the penalty kick was correct; the referees' positioning helped them see the play clearly, and the referee should have issued a yellow card to the defender.
The Football Association noted that the Referees Committee will analyze controversial incidents in Egyptian Premier League matches.
The Referees Committee intends to maintain transparency in all cases, and no controversial incident in the Egyptian Premier League will be excluded from review.
