The Football Association thanks President Sisi.. and insists on the rights of Egypt's national team against the referee of the Argentina match

The Egyptian Football Association issued an official statement in which it thanked His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, for his support.

It also stressed its adherence to Egypt's national team's rights against French referee François Letexier, who officiated the Pharaohs' match against Argentina.

The Egyptian Football Association said in an official statement:

"We thank His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for the great and continuous support the national team has received since the association's board of directors assumed responsibility for managing Egyptian football, and the support and care provided by state institutions, in belief in the importance of sports and its role in raising Egypt's name in various international forums"

"The Egyptian Football Association expresses its extreme dissatisfaction with the refereeing performance in the match against Argentina led by French referee François Letexier, and some decisions related to the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology, which raised many question marks. The association affirms its adherence to the national team's rights and its keenness to take all measures guaranteed by the regulations to preserve justice and the integrity of the competition"

"The Egyptian Football Association affirms that what has been achieved in this tournament represents an important step in the path of developing Egyptian football, and that the next phase will witness the continuation of work, in cooperation with state institutions, to implement a comprehensive national project for the development of football, expanding the base of practice, discovering talents, and building new generations that continue to raise Egypt's name in continental and international forums".

The Egyptian Football Association had filed a complaint with the International Federation "FIFA" after the events of the Egypt and Argentina match in the World Cup. (Read the details)

French referee François Letexier sparked controversy after his refereeing decisions during the match.

Egypt's national team bid farewell to the World Cup from the round of 16 after losing to Argentina 3-2.

The referee canceled a goal for Mustafa Zico in the 58th minute due to a foul by Marwan Attia against Argentine national team player Lisandro Martínez.

He also overlooked awarding a penalty kick in favor of Mohamed Salah in the second minute of stoppage time, allowing the ball to rebound and the Argentine national team to successfully score the third goal.
