Congolese player Fiston Mayele of Libya's Ahly Tripoli expressed his immense joy at scoring for his new club, Ahly Tripoli, in their match against KM, the champions of Zanzibar.
Ahly Tripoli defeated the Zanzibar champions 3–0 away in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round with a clean sweep.
Fiston Mayele, player of Ahly Tripoli, told journalists: "First and foremost, praise be to God that we achieved victory in a match that was not easy."
He added, "The Libyan league has not yet started, so we faced some difficulties, but we managed to fight hard and score goals, ultimately securing an important win."
Concluding his remarks, he said, "I am extremely happy to have scored, and I aim to achieve success with my new team, after fulfilling one of my biggest dreams by representing my national team and scoring in the World Cup."
Mayele joined Ahly Tripoli during the summer transfer window following the expiration of his contract with Pyramids FC.
Last season, Ahly Tripoli won the Libyan Cup title under the leadership of Hossam El-Badry.
The Ahly Tripoli squad includes Mustafa Shakshak, formerly of ENPPI.
The team also features Fakhri Lakay, Blati Touré, and Isaac Yakubu.
Mayele delivered an outstanding performance during his first season with Pyramids, scoring 21 goals in 41 matches and providing 5 assists.
In his second season, Mayele scored fewer goals, netting 18 in 38 matches with two assists, yet he etched his name into the club's history by scoring the only goal in the Egypt Cup final against ZED, granting Pyramids their first official title in their history on August 30, 2024.
In another historic achievement, Mayele shone once again in the CAF Champions League final from two seasons ago, opening the scoring in the second leg against South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns, which ended in a 2–1 victory for Pyramids.
This victory granted the club its first continental title in history, after overcoming Sundowns with an aggregate score of 3–2 across both legs.
Mayele concluded his tournament campaign as the top scorer with 6 goals, cementing his status as one of the continent's most prominent strikers.
In his third season, Mayele scored 11 goals in 41 matches, leading Pyramids to win both the Egypt Cup and the Tri-Continental Cup (Intercontinental).
