The case of financial violations attributed to Manchester City, known in the media as the "115 Charges" case, has reignited speculation about the future of several of the team's top stars, most notably the Norwegian Erling Haaland, amid possibilities of sanctions that could affect the club's trajectory in the coming years.
The case remains on a legal path that could take time, with expectations that Manchester City will appeal any decision not in its favor.
However, the possibility of sporting sanctions, including point deductions that could even impact the team's survival in the English Premier League, has opened the door to scenarios involving the departure of some stars.
According to the British newspaper "The Sun," Real Madrid and Barcelona could potentially compete for several Manchester City players if the club's future is affected by sanctions, including Josko Gvardiol, Enzo Fernandez, Rayan Cherki, and Ayyoub Bouaddi, though Haaland remains the name attracting the most interest.
The Norwegian striker is under contract with Manchester City until 2034, and reports indicate there is no clause allowing him to leave automatically in the event of the team's relegation, giving the English club a strong position in any negotiations. Moreover, City does not appear ready to easily part with its stars even if subjected to sanctions.
Barcelona or Real Madrid?
According to the Spanish newspaper "Sport," Haaland's name has been linked with both Real Madrid and Barcelona for some time, but so far, neither club has taken official steps to sign him.
At Barcelona, the Norwegian striker might find suitable artistic space, especially given Raphinha's ability to play as a forward or winger, alongside the club's previous interest in Julian Alvarez to strengthen the striker position.
As for Real Madrid, the situation appears more complex due to the presence of Kylian Mbappe as the main striker, along with Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, and other attacking elements, meaning Haaland's arrival would likely require a redistribution of roles within the team.
Consequently, Haaland's departure from Manchester City remains merely a possibility linked to developments in the case and the wishes of both the player and the club. However, any major sanction against the English team could open the door to a different transfer market scenario, once again placing the Norwegian striker in the sights of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
