Egypt secured their first victory in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers by defeating South Sudan with a five-goal margin.

Egypt won against South Sudan 5-0 in a match played as part of the second round of the qualifiers.

Marwan Attia came in for Mahmoud Saber, who started the Angola match, while Omar Marmoush played in place of Mohamed Salah, who missed the game because it was held on an artificial turf pitch.

Match Description

Egypt started the match with attacking pressure, and Emam Ashour tried to score early after breaking through from the left side of the penalty area and taking a shot that was saved by the South Sudan goalkeeper.

In the fifth minute, Ziko took a left-footed shot from inside the penalty area, but the South Sudan goalkeeper made a brilliant save, while Rami Rabia missed another chance in the seventh minute when he headed Haitham Hassan's cross wide of the target.

Ziko attempted another shot in the 17th minute which deflected off a defender and fell easily to the goalkeeper, while South Sudan responded with an attempt from Benjamin Laku, whose header went wide of the post.

Egypt's first goal came in the 36th minute via Ziko, after Ahmed Fatouh broke down the left flank into the penalty area and delivered a low cross to the Pyramids FC player, who struck it powerfully into the net.

In the 38th minute, the referee showed Marwan Attia a yellow card for a challenge on Chan Peter, while South Sudan tried to equalize through Jackson Dwanga, whose powerful shot from outside the box in the 34th minute sailed over the crossbar.

Emam Ashour missed another opportunity in the 40th minute when his strong right-footed shot from the left side of the penalty area narrowly missed the post, before the South Sudan goalkeeper excelled by saving a powerful header from Ziko in the 41st minute, turning it into a corner kick.

At the start of the second half, South Sudan made their first substitution, while Egypt continued to look to extend their lead, until Omar Marmoush succeeded in scoring the second goal in the 49th minute after receiving a through ball from Mohanad Lasheen from South Sudan's defensive midfield, breaking away and slotting a ground shot into the left side of the net.

Hossam Hassan made two substitutions, bringing on Karim Hafez for Ahmed Fatouh who complained of injury, and Ibrahim Adel for Haitham Hassan.

In the 75th minute, Ibrahim Adel fired a powerful shot into the South Sudan net, announcing Egypt's third goal.

Omar Marmoush broke down the left flank and hit a powerful shot, but it flew over the South Sudan goal.

Mostafa Shobair stood out, clearing a dangerous cross inside the penalty area.

Omar Marmoush scored again after dribbling past the South Sudan goalkeeper and finding the empty net.
